Predicting the Future of Eldercare Innovation: Bob Kramer Podcast Appearance

Susan Ryan and Alex Spanko hosted Bob Kramer on their Elevate Eldercare podcast earlier this year to share his thoughts on where the senior housing and aging services sector is headed. The result was a wide-ranging discussion that covered ageism, staffing shortages, new regulations, private-sector investment, public/private partnerships, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of non-for-profit and for-profit organizations.

In addition, Bob stressed that the future demands a “both/and” approach in terms of solutions and settings, not an “either/or” approach.

Bob also laid out his three-step call to action for those in the field:

1. Educate and inform (the media, policymakers, the public, capital sources)
2. Communicate, collaborate and partner ( across the silos of housing, healthcare and community-based organizations)
3. Innovate and scale (because without both we cannot meet the need and change the current delivery models)
